Our Services
At Dental Group at Reston Station, we educate our patients on a broad range of treatment options to enable them to make informed decisions regarding their oral care. Dental Group at Reston Station offers dental care including general, preventive, restorative and cosmetic services. A listing of common procedures follows:
Digital X-ray Technology
We offer digital x-ray services to our patients. This technology dramatically reduces x-ray exposure.
Preventive Care
Preventive measures can do wonders for your oral health, as well as overall systemic health.
A few simple homecare practices, paired with regular visits to your dental professional, will go a long way toward maintaining optimal oral health.
Inadequate plaque control is the primary cause of gingivitis (inflammation of the gum tissue), periodontitis (inflammation of the periodontium-tissues that support the teeth), and halitosis (bad breath).
Radiographic evaluations ensure timely diagnosis of hard tissue pathology (caries, bone loss, anomalies).
Sealants
Like fluoride, dental sealants can give children a head start on good oral health. Dental sealants are thin, clear or tooth-colored plastic coatings that are applied to the grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to protect them from tooth decay. Most tooth decay in children and teens occurs on these surfaces. Sealants protect the chewing surfaces from tooth decay by keeping bacteria and food particles out of these grooves.
Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are a thin, semi-translucent laminate which are bonded to your teeth. Veneers are the most aesthetic alternative for a variety of dental conditions involving the front teeth, which may include:
- Diastemas (spaces between teeth)
- Broken or chipped teeth
- Permanently stained or discolored teeth that cannot be whitened
- Crooked teeth
Tooth-Colored Restorations
Tooth-colored fillings are made of composite resin applied in one appointment and are an alternative to traditional metal or amalgam fillings.
At-home Teeth Whitening Procedures
Based on your needs, we will select from a variety of whitening systems. We will choose a plan that both suits your lifestyle and delivers great results.
Zoom Advance Power In-Office Whitening
The Zoom Advance Power In-Office whitening system is a revolutionary tooth whitening procedure that is safe, effective and fast. In just over an hour, your teeth will be dramatically whiter. Zoom Advance whitening is ideal for anyone looking for immediate results.
Porcelain Crowns and Bridges
Crowns are external dental restorations that are placed over a tooth when conservative restorations are insufficient to restore form and function. Bridges serve to replace a missing tooth or teeth.
Implants
Dental implants enable dentists to create healthy, attractive smiles in an innovative way. Used to replace one or more missing teeth, implants are another alternative to conventional bridges and dentures. In essence, dental implants act and look like natural teeth.
Sedation Dentistry
We use safe and effective medications to keep you relaxed and comfortable during your dental visit. Sedation dentistry is perfect for those who want to have more treatment in fewer visits.
• fearful or anxious patients wanting little to no memory of the visit
• anyone with a severe gag reflex, chronic or acute jaw soreness or physical limitations (back and neck problems)
• people who have difficulty getting numb or simply want a more relaxing experience
Invisalign Orthodontics
Invisalign is the clear way to straighten teeth without braces, using aligners. Aligners are removable and virtually invisible, which means you can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing; and you can still eat and drink whatever you want. Also, you can brush and floss normally to maintain healthy gums and teeth; and there are no wires, metal or brackets to cause mouth abrasions.
TMJ Treatments
Using a simple, yet sophisticated dental appliance, we treat Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJD), which is pain and dysfunction of the muscles of mastication (the muscles that move the jaw) and the temporomandibular joints (the joints which connect the mandible to the skull). The most important feature of TMJD is pain, followed by restricted mandibular movement, and noises from the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) during jaw movement.
Laser Dentistry
Laser is an exciting technology that can be used for a variety of dental procedures. It can successfully treat herpes lesions and canker sores. Laser techniques can also reshape gums around teeth for better aesthetics.
Periodontal Therapy
Periodontal therapy is recommended for the treatment of periodontal diseases (gum diseases). Scaling and root planing is performed to remove calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from tooth surfaces below your gums. Dental calculus deposits harbor harmful bacteria. The procedure is usually performed while utilizing local anesthetic, ultrasonic scalers and hand instruments.
Sometimes, oral antibiotics may be necessary in conjunction with scaling and root planing.
Extractions
There are times when it is necessary to remove a tooth. Infection, very deep decay, fracture, orthodontic correction, or problems with a wisdom tooth may all require removal of a tooth.
Bone Grafts
Today, we have the ability to grow bone where needed. This not only gives us the opportunity to place implants of proper length and width, it also gives us a chance to restore functionality and an aesthetic appearance.
Dentures (conventional, immediate and removable)
Full or partial dentures are used to restore multiple missing teeth in order to provide proper function and appearance.
Endodontics / Root Canal Therapy
Most damage to the tooth pulp is the result of untreated cavities, trauma or a very deep crack. Fortunately, endodontic procedures, such as root canal therapy, can effectively treat this condition. The procedure is painless once the tooth has been anesthetized. Root canal therapy allows us to retain even severely damaged teeth that would have otherwise been lost entirely.
Advanced Oral Lesion Detection
We use ViziLite Plus to detect oral cancer and other pathology while these diseases are still in the early stages and are more readily treatable. Oral cancer is more deadly than cervical or melanoma cancers and early detection is the key to survival.
Sports Dentistry
Sports Dentistry is the treatment and prevention of oral/facial athletic injuries and related oral diseases and manifestations. We offer our patients custom fitted mouth guards to prevent and minimize dental related injuries.
Sleep Apnea Devices
The goal of the appliance is to prevent snoring and sleep apnea, thereby improving health and quality of life. Your dentist will recommend the proper appliance, based on your needs.
